Education Registrar and Field Trip Coordinator
The Position
The Education Registrar and Field Trip Coordinator serves as the face of Lindsay’s Education department for customer communication, field trip presentation, and camp management assistance. The role provides customer service and database management in addition to scheduling and booking management for school, community, and public programs that Lindsay Wildlife Experience (LWE) offers. Further, this individual handles the registration process for all education programs, including the financial reports and enrollment statistics. This person creates and develops K-5th grade field trips, camps, and programs based on NGS standards. This individual also ensures these programs are coordinated, scheduled, and delivered in a high-quality manner. The candidate must be people-oriented and exceptionally organized. This full-time, 40 hours per week, position’s schedule runs Monday through Friday with hourly compensation and benefits.
Primary Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process, schedule, and manage registrations for all educational programs. This includes confirmation of enrollment, payment invoices, and all other communications expected when customers wish to participate in programs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for program inquiries. Respond to questions, requests, and concerns in a manner that reflects Lindsay Wildlife Experience’s customer service excellence.
- Process financial reports for department revenue and reconcile all financial program accounting with the Curator of Education. Similarly, provide information to other staff on program participation in the form of class rosters, name tags, maps, and directions.
- Maintain interactive databases used for registration and portions of the LWE website pertinent to program participation.
- Creates, updates, and delivers the museum’s K-5th grade field trip program offerings and camp offerings, ensuring they are up to date with science standards.
- Works with Animal Encounters and Natural History to ensure all Lindsay school programs have required animal ambassadors and natural sciences specimens needed.
- From September to May, maintains day-of logistics for school field trip programs. Serving as the lead staff member for these programs and training Education Volunteers as needed.
- From June to August, develops interesting, engaging, educational, and enjoyable activities for the museum’s summer camp. Working with the Public Programs Manager to lead summer camps and serving as a reference for seasonal camp employees.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Proactively communicate with program staff regarding registrations. In addition, communicate effectively and work closely with the Director of Education and the entire Education Department
- Attend trainings and meetings as required.
- Willing and able to support Education Department efforts not specific to this position should the need arise and when appropriate, such as exhibit floor programming, content development, volunteer engagement, and classes. This is an essential part of the Education Department’s culture of support and teamwork.
- Other duties as assigned. The Curator of Education reserves the right to modify the duties and responsibilities as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree in education, ecology, biology, or a relevant field.
- Proven computer proficiency. The ability to work with multiple relational databases is necessary.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to address customers’ questions and concerns in a helpful and friendly manner.
- Must communicate with sensitivity and have a strong customer service approach, both in person and through telecommunications.
- Strong knowledge of K-12 learning and teaching strategies, curriculum and standards, and museum education theory and practice.
- Strong knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and methods of integrating NGSS concepts into structured science / environmental education curricula.
- Ability to handle and present program animals including, but not limited to, small mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and invertebrates.
- Extremely organized, able to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and with a team.
- Ability to be flexible and multi-task in a dynamic work environment.
- Must display good judgment, problem-solving, and exercise tact at all times; courteous and respectful interactions with staff, volunteers, and guests.
- Flexibility with regards to schedule. While the schedule is likely to be Monday through Friday, the individual may be asked to work occasional weekends and nights as needs arise.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Medium strength demands include exerting 20-50 pounds occasionally, 10- 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. Requires handling, using vision and hearing, and talking.
- Frequently requires standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, sitting, reaching, pushing/pulling, balancing, and twisting. Occasionally requires carrying, kneeling, foot controls, bending, and crouching. Rarely requires climbing.
NON-PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequently requires time pressures, frequent change of tasks, irregular schedule/overtime, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, working closely with others as part of a team, tedious or exacting work, and noisy/distracting environment.
- Rarely requires emergency situations.
Hours, Benefits & Compensation
Non-exempt, full-time hourly at 40 hours a week.
Medical and dental benefits. Vacation, sick days, and holidays.
$20-$22 an hour working Monday – Friday from 9:00 am-5:30 pm
OVERALL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.
- Primarily office environment, as well as public exhibit hall programming and infrequent outdoor event and/or outreach sites.
