Guest Experience Associate Part-Time

It serves more than 100,000 children and adults and treats more than 5,500 animals each year. Lindsay’s Hospital is a pioneer in the field of wildlife care and was recognized in 2015 by The New York Times Magazine as America’s oldest wildlife rehabilitation center.

We are seeking a dynamic, energetic and proactive professional to join our guest-focused front of house team!

The Position

The guest experience associate is the “face of the museum.”  Exemplary customer service is the standard at Lindsay Wildlife Experience. The guest experience associate is responsible for providing friendly, gracious and efficient service to our members and visitors in the front reception area, museum store, and exhibit hall. The guest experience associate greets the public, answers phones, sells memberships and store merchandise, and handles all monies and admissions transactions, including the reconciling of monies and records, as well as interacting with and disseminating information to visitors.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Greet members and museum visitors; maintain a friendly and professional atmosphere in the front reception area and provide directions for visitors; oversee the daily admissions and store operations including opening and closing, sales transactions and reconciliation.
  • Answer multi-line phone system, direct calls to appropriate staff or departments and provide accurate and current information regarding museum exhibits & events. Proper radio protocol should be followed when contacting staff and/or volunteers by radio.
  • Accept admission fees; sell merchandise from museum store, complete paperwork and computer entry. Follow proper credit card and cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Use suggestive selling techniques to sell memberships and promote museum classes & trips.
  • Perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to: maintaining appearance of reception area; maintaining a clean, tidy, well-stocked store; maintaining supply of brochures and other museum information in lobby; fulfilling online order; price and display merchandise; and other general retail and office tasks.
  • Interact with and check-in birthday party guests; provide direction and support for the birthday party host.
  • Maintain familiarity with the local area to accurately provide concierge services such as directions and appropriate suggestions for restaurants and other activities.
  • Follow safe work practices and maintain a safe work environment. Report safety hazards to management as soon as those hazards become apparent. Remain knowledgeable about emergency action plan, animal escape plan and fire prevention plan. Integrate safety training techniques and practices such as proper lifting, bending, reaching etc., to all work.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Guest Experience Manager.


  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional college courses or degree a plus. Good math skills.
  • Retail experience including cash register, reconciliation and PC database computer experience required.
  • Knowledge of iPad, Square POS, Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workplace a must!
  • Must project a friendly and professional demeanor, and be able to interact well with a wide range of people of all ages and personalities. Patience is a requirement.
  • Excellent customer service skills including maintaining a calm and gracious manner with visitors including excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent phone manner and keen attention to detail is required.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a busy environment is essential.
  • Desire to support and interpret the mission of the museum.
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs., bend, stoop, carry, twist, reach, climb stairs and stand for long periods.

Hours, Benefits & Compensation

  • This is a part-time 16-24 hour a week, non-exempt position. At least one weekend day is required, possibly two on occasion. The pay is $16.00 per hour.
  • Vacation and sick time accrual.
