Guest Experience Lead II
The Position
The Guest Experience Lead II is the “face of Lindsay”, and is responsible for providing friendly, gracious, and guest-centric services to our members and visitors in the front reception area, retail space, and exhibit hall. The Guest Experience Lead greets the public, answers calls, promotes memberships, sells store merchandise, executes monetary and admissions transactions, including the reconciling of monies and records as well as interacting with visitors.
Primary Responsibilities
- Greet members and exhibit hall visitors; maintain a friendly and professional atmosphere in the front reception area and provide direction for visitors; oversee daily admissions and store operations, including opening and closing, sales transactions and reconciliation.
- Responds to and redirects incoming calls to a multi-line phone system, and provide accurate and current information regarding exhibits & events.
- Accepts admission fees, sells merchandise from museum store, completes paperwork and inputs and retrieves data into the POS system. Follows credit card and cash handling policies and procedures.
- Uses up-selling techniques to promote membership sales and promote museum classes & trips.
- Maintains aesthetically pleasing reception area, and clean, tidy, well-stocked store.
- Ensures adequate supply of program-related brochures and other museum information in lobby; maintains and monitors daily staff sign-in logs.
- Maintains familiarity with local community to accurately provide concierge directions and appropriate suggestions for restaurants and other activities.
- Follows safe work practices and maintains a safe work environment. Report safety hazards to management immediately upon discovery.
- Periodically reviews and responds to emergency action plan, animal escape plan and fire prevention plan.
- Opens and closes exhibit hall daily.
- Attends and participates in monthly general staff meetings.
- Perform other tasks as requested by the Guest Experiences Manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional college courses or degree a plus. Good math skills.
- Retail experience including cash register, reconciliation and PC database computer experience required.
- Ability to project a friendly, professional demeanor, and ability to engage a diverse guest population.
- Exemplary customer service skills including maintaining a calm and gracious manner with visitors including excellent problem solving skills.
- Excellent phone manners and keen attention to detail is required.
- Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize work in a busy environment is essential.
- Desire to support and interpret the mission of Lindsay Wildlife Experience.
- Proven ability to multi-task and work with diverse audiences
- Ability to take ownership and problem solve using proper judgment and find the best possible solutions or alternatives while maintaining guest-centered focus.
- Excellent organization and management skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Medium strength demands include exerting 20-50 pounds occasionally, 10- 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. Requires handling, using vision and hearing, and talking.
- Frequently requires standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, sitting, reaching, pushing/pulling, balancing, and twisting. Occasionally requires carrying, kneeling, foot controls, bending, and crouching. Rarely requires climbing.
NON-PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequently requires time pressures, frequent change of tasks, irregular schedule/overtime, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, working closely with others as part of a team, tedious or exacting work, and noisy/distracting environment. Rarely requires emergency situations.
OVERALL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.
- Primarily office environment, as well as public exhibit hall programming, and infrequent outdoor event and/or outreach sites.
- This position reports to the Guest Experience Manager
Hours, Benefits & Compensation
- Lindsay offers a competitive benefits package including paid sick time, vacation, 12 paid holidays and 3 floating holidays yearly, and 401K eligibility. Opportunities for professional development courses and training.
- Non-exempt full-time position, 40-hours a week.
- Pay: $18 – $20/hour
