September 2018 Conservation Icons: Dr. Emily Taylor, Cal Poly, Rattlesnakes!

Slither into the scaly and fascinating world of rattlesnakes with the foremost California expert: Dr. Emily Taylor!

Taylor is a professor in Biological Sciences for California Polytechnic State University. She will be at Lindsay Wildlife on Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. to discuss her many adventures and research studies on all things reptiles!

Dr. Taylor joined Cal Poly in 2005 as an Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences and now oversees the Physiological Ecology of Reptiles Laboratory. With a profound love for the animals she studies, Dr. Taylor trains students in research techniques in the environmental physiology of reptiles. Her research specialties are comparative endocrinology and reproductive physiology, and research in her lab spans multiple topics in environmental physiology.

Before Cal Poly, Dr. Taylor “chased rattlesnakes around the Sonoran Desert for six years” while doing her dissertation in the laboratory of Dale DeNardo in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University.
