“Feathers & Flora: Portrait of a Scavenger” Paintings by Heather Wagenbach
See another side of vultures in “Feathers & Flora: Portrait of a Scavenger,” an exhibition of paintings by artist Heather Wagenbach on view beginning Oct. 25.
Presented in association with Redbubble, this display of 12 lush watercolors is the artist’s attempt to shine a light on these essential but highly vulnerable scavengers.
Depicting an array of vulture species including the regal Egyptian Vulture and the imperiled California Condor, Wagenbach’s paintings offer viewers a fresh look at these often misunderstood birds and a deeper awareness of their plight.
Based in both the Bay Area and Pacific Northwest, Wagenbach has been drawing inspiration from nature since childhood. An obsession with dinosaurs sparked a love of drawing, which morphed into an art career and “an arguably unhealthy interest in biology.” When not painting, the artist can be found seeking inspiration in museums and zoos, and getting dirt under her nails while enjoying the great outdoors.
Feathers and Flora: Portrait of a Scavenger will be on display in the Buckeye Room at Lindsay Wildlife Experience October 25 through November 30, 2019.
