Lindsay Wildlife Matches $25,000 Lesher Foundation Grant Challenge

Lindsay Wildlife Experience is proud to announce that it has successfully matched a $25,000 challenge grant from the Dean and Margaret Lesher Foundation as part of the Love for Lindsay Wildlife Campaign

The Lesher foundation provided this challenge to encourage additional support for the fundraising campaign, which aims to raise $250,000 by June 30 for the 65-year-old education center and wildlife rehabilitation hospital. The Lindsay Wildlife community responded with a strong show of support, contributing an additional $25,000 in donations to match Lesher in a little more than one week.

“The Dean & Margaret Lesher Foundation is proud to support the Love for Lindsay Wildlife Campaign with a matching grant that will help them reach their fundraising goal of $250,000,” said Melissa Stafford Jones, Executive Director of The Dean & Margaret Lesher Foundation.  “Congratulations to the Lindsay staff and their supporters who are working hard to complete this goal, which will further their long-standing terrific work in the community.”

The current campaign total now stands at $191,044 leaving just a little more than $58,000 to raise.

The funds raised so far are helping replace income lost due to the COVID-19 closure. The funds are also enabling Lindsay Wildlife to care for its more than 70 animal ambassadors. and continue to receive hundreds of injured animals at its hospital even while the organization remains temporarily closed.

“At Lindsay, we are incredibly fortunate to have partners and supporters like The Dean and Margaret Lesher Foundation,” said Carlos de la Rosa, Executive Director. “Their commitment to education, children, families and the arts is well known in our area. Their support is not only helping Lindsay recover from the current closure, but allows us to continue to innovate, adapt, and serve our community and wildlife.”

A second phase of fundraising is set to launch July 1 with a $1 million goal. The organization will use those funds to help secure its future as a worldwide leader of wildlife conservation action.
