Hospital update–week of January 20

The hospital received 35 animals last week, bringing the total for this year to 108.

Robins and cedar waxwings are frequent visitors to pyrancantha, toyon and privet bushes this time of the year to eat ripe berries. It’s a myth that they get “drunk” from the berries. What happens is they gorge on the berries and when they fly off, they are unwieldy because of the extra weight from the berries and may fly less than gracefully.
