Hospital update–week of January 27
The hospital received 38 animals last week, bringing the total for this year to 146.
We received four red-tailed hawks, three of which were emaciated or thin. We often see immature hawks in bad condition because they haven’t learned to hunt well, but two of these hawks are adults, which is a little unusual. We suspect that one of the adults has rodenticide poisoning. The other two emaciated birds showed signs of infection.
