Hospital update–Week of May 13
The hospital received 236 animals last week, bringing the total to 1578 for this year.
One of the patients last week was a kingsnake found tangled in garden netting. When we cut the snake loose, we found it had suffered only abrasions and some scale disruption. It was returned home after the finder promised to get rid of the netting. It could have been much worse, though. Snakes can suffer deep lacerations when they struggle to get out and can die if not found fast. If you need to use garden netting to keep birds off your plants, make sure it’s securely staked and up off the ground
