Hospital update–week of October 14
The hospital received 40 animals last week, bringing the total to 5111 for this year.
One of the patients was a sharp-tailed snake that had been caught by a cat. Sharp-tailed snakes are very small–this one was about 6″ long. They eat slugs, slug eggs and slender salamanders. Unfortunately, this snake did not survive because of its injuries. Please keep cats indoors to prevent harm to beneficial wildlife such as this snake.
