Name Our Squirrel!

Join Lindsay Wildlife Experience in helping to name our newest animal ambassador: California Ground Squirrel!

This little lady came to Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital in December 2014. Originally found as a baby, she was raised by humans but brought to Lindsay when her caregivers could no longer take care of her.

Young squirrels learn important skills from their mothers in the wild. Since she never learned these skills, she would be unable to survive in the wild. This is why it’s never a good idea to keep a wild animal as a pet.

Here she receives lots of specialized care and has plenty of logs, branches and leaves to run around on and dig in. Her favorite treat: banana.

Animal keepers will choose the winning name. Here are some hints:

• Be creative—think of a name that best reflects her behavior or natural adaptations

• Enter as many times as you like!

• Entries due by Sunday, May 31

The winning name will be announced June 26 at Friday Night at Lindsay: A family fun evening that includes animals, crafts, start gazing and a food truck!

The lucky winner, along with four friends, will receive a private meet and greet with squirrel. And help prepare her “enrichment” that means creating a fun, challenging, entertaining way for squirrel to find her food!
