River Guardian

Artist Statement: This female river otter had just spent time rolling in the sand to dry her dense fur coat. River otters look exceptionally handsome when their fur in nice and dry; however, the dry look only lasts for a few moments because they will groom their fur and then quickly return to the water.

 

 

 

Twilight Huntress

Artist Statement: Gray foxes are elusive and are best seen after the sun has gone down. This female was hunting in a meadow and paused briefly to observe us before returning to the task of catching prey to feed her three hungry kits.

Artist Statment: This piece was inspired by the thunderstorm that happened back in August. I used a Utahraptor because I thought it would fit best with the darker mood.

Frog in the Shadows

Artist Statement: In my art, I captured the Red-Eyed Tree Frog. I chose to express the vivid colors and unique features of these frogs using wax-based colored pencils.
