Biological Illustration Workshop

Saturday, July 14, 2018 11:00 am - 12:30 pm , , ,

Scientific illustration is a valuable and timeless skill. The life-like work of artists such as John James Audubon has inspired us for years through field guides and museums. Lindsay welcomes you into this fascinating world through a 90-minute workshop with artist Mona Luo. She will start the class with a brief introduction to science illustration and its applications. Then, Mona will guide us through the basics of observation and field sketching. Students are asked to bring sketchpads and pencils; there will be plenty of hands-on drawing instruction.

Mona holds Bachelors of Arts in both Biology and Art, and she received a certificate in science illustration from California State University, Monterey Bay. She has created field guides, interpretive panels, and many types of science education materials. A sampling of her works can be found on her website by clicking here.
