Neon Scorpion Evening Hikes in June and July

Under a black lights’ glow observe rock scorpions glowing like green neon signs in the dark. Additionally, observe snakes and lizards absorbing the last of the day’s heat from gravel along the side of the trail. And if lucky, observe some of the mountain’s elusive night creatures as they emerge. Hikes start from Mitchell Canyon Visitor’s Center at Mount Diablo State Park and cover a distance of 2 miles. Flashlight, hiking shoes and bottled water are recommended. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Additional cost: $6 parking at the Visitor’s Center. Map and directions will be emailed with your registration details.
