October 2018 Conservation Icons: Raabia Hawa, Kenyan Wildlife

Saturday, October 13, 2018 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm , , ,

Join us for a trip to Kenya to learn from the inspirational and amazing Raabia Hawa and her dedication to end poaching of animals through the Ulinzi Africa Foundation. Hawa is coming to Lindsay, on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m., to talk about the need for protection of Kenyan wildlife.

A woman on a mission, Hawa gave up a successful career in TV to work with rangers in the field in Kenya and founded the foundation – East Africa’s first NGO to raise awareness of the challenges faced by rangers in their fight against poaching.

An Honorary Warden with the Kenya Wildlife Service, Hawa conducted the cross-country trek- Walk With Rangers. The first trek lasted 15 days and won the support of 70 global participants from 16 different countries who walked over 200 miles to raise awareness about the challenges facing rangers on the ground.

Having developed a keen interest in safeguarding Africa’s natural resources, Hawa has been a notable contributor to the legislative amendments in the historic Wildlife Act in Kenya, which has seen phenomenal commitment to preserving the country’s ecology.

Hawa is just one of six awe-inspiring speakers that are part of the 2018-19 Conservation Icons series that aims to educate, entertain and inspire change!
