Nature Speak: The Notorious Rattlesnake
Rattlesnake expert Mike Cardwell will be at Lindsay Wildlife Aug. 7 as part of Lindsay’s summertime speaker series: Nature Speak.
Cardwell has spoken to hundreds of audiences around the country on venomous bites and stings, including multiple national conferences of the National Association for Search & Rescue and the Wilderness Medical Society. He has collaborated on several snakebite research projects at Loma Linda University, has authored or co-authored many papers for peer-reviewed scientific and medical journals—as well as non-technical publications—and is co-editor of The Biology of Rattlesnakes, a 600-page peer-reviewed compilation of rattlesnake research by 90 authors.
Cardwell conducted a long-term radio-telemetry study of wild Mojave Rattlesnakes—the first for this notorious species. His study was prominently featured in Animal Planet’s Venom ER television series.
