Neon Scorpion Hikes 2025

Age 6–Adult

Get ready for an exciting hike as you search the north face of Mount Diablo for local scorpions! Meet at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center and prepare to be amazed as you spot these glowing critters in the darkness, almost like green neon signs. While you’re at it, take in the amazing views and be on the lookout for other fascinating plants and animals that call Mount Diablo home. On this short 2-mile hike, there’s plenty to discover and observe on this fun-filled excursion.

• Sunday, August 17th, 7:15 p.m. – 9:15 p.m.
• Sunday, August 24th, 7:15 p.m. – 9:15 p.m.
• Saturday, August 30th, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
• Sunday, August 31st, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
• Saturday, September 6th, 6:45 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.
• Sunday, September 7th, 6:45 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. (Full Moon)

BRING hiking shoes, and water. An ultraviolet flashlight is optional.

Price per person: $20 for members/ $25 for non-members.

Additional cost: $6 parking at the Visitor’s Center.
