Tarantula & Scorpion Hike

Age 6–Adult

Explore the habitat of local scorpions and tarantulas along the north face of Mount Diablo, starting at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center. Experience the excitement of finding scorpions glowing like green neon signs in the dark. Led by our experienced naturalist, participants will look for local tarantulas as these eight-legged creatures explore beyond their burrows in search of a mate. Hikes cover a distance of 2 miles.

• Saturday, September 7th from 6:45-8:45pm
• Sunday, September 8th from 6:45-8:45pm
• Saturday, September 21st from 6:15-8:15pm
• Sunday, September 22nd from 6:15-8:15pm
• Saturday, September 28th from 6:00-8:00pm
• Sunday, September 29th from 6:00-8:00pm

BRING hiking shoes, and water. An ultraviolet flashlight is optional.

Price per person: $20 for members/$25 for non-members.

Additional cost: $6 parking at the Visitor’s Center.
