Tarantula Hikes 2021

Age 6–Adult

Explore the habitat of local tarantulas along the north face of Mount Diablo with an experienced naturalist. These eight-legged, carnivorous yet docile creatures come out of hiding in search of mates. Discover and observe the diverse plants and animals inhabiting Mount Diablo. Hikes cover a distance of 2 miles.

Dates and times:

• September 19th, 5:00-7:00 pm
• September 26th, 5:00-7:00 pm
• October 3rd, 4:45-6:45 pm
• October 10th, 4:45-6:45 pm

BRING hiking shoes, bottled water, and a face mask. 

Price per person: $15 for members/$20 for non-members.

Additional cost: $6 parking at the Visitor’s Center.

To comply with social distancing regulations, groups will be smaller this year and face masks must be worn during the entire duration of the hike.
