New art exhibit launches feline-themed summer programs at Lindsay Wildlife Experience!

What: Spend the summer herding cats when Lindsay Wildlife Experience presents The Summer of Cats — Felines: Fierce and Friendly! During The Summer of Cats, LWE is asking young visitors to take the “Purr-fect Pledge,” reinforcing their message to keep domestic cats inside to prevent injuries, disease and short life spans.

Children who wish to take the pledge can color a picture of a cat provided by Lindsay, or bring in a photo of their cat, and it will be hung up in the Lindsay Cat Gallery in the Exhibit Hall. Families are also welcome to post pictures of their cats to Lindsay’s Instagram page with the hashtag #lindsaysummerofcats or on their Facebook page.

The Summer of Cats — Felines: Fierce and Friendly! features:

Feline Fine: Art of Cats II – a traveling exhibit of 50 new paintings and sculptures by leading artists who specialize in the subject of cats, including domestic breeds and wild cats, in a variety of styles ranging from photo-realism to painterly impressionism, feline fantasy art and computer generated feline art. This exhibit follows the 2003 wildly popular Feline Fine: Art of the Cats. General admission: $8.50/adults; $6.50/children ages 2-17; $7.50/seniors age 65 and up free.

Cat Day will take place June 20 from noon to 4 p.m. There will be cat activities, arts and crafts and cat adoptions from the Animal Rescue Foundation.

Family Friday Night at Lindsay – families can meet and great animals, do cat crafts, star gaze, dinner and have dinner at the Street Dog Food
