WILD VALENTINES at Walnut Creek’s Lindsay Wildlife Museum

A Celebration of Love at SF Bay Area’s Premier Wildlife Rehabilitation and Nature Education Center

WALNUT CREEK, CALIF. —January 7, 2014—Lindsay Wildlife Museum announced today a return of the popular WILD VALENTINES celebration with expanded dates and programs for 2014. An adults-only special event, Kiss and Tail- An Evening of Wild Romance, adds a new element to the exciting celebration.


Which wildlife mom knows her young by their scent? Which shares her nest with other moms, while the “teenagers” help raise the babies? Find out how our wild neighbors raise families and find mates during WILD VALENTINES at Lindsay Wildlife Museum, Saturday, February 8- Monday, February 17, 2014.

From 10 AM to 5 PM on February 8-9 and 15-17 and noon to 5 PM on February 12, 13, and 14 you can:

  • meet and learn about wildlife family members
  • make a valentine craft
  • watch a bald or golden eagle presentation
  • pet a live rat, hamster, guinea pig or rabbit
  • purchase and sign a valentine to hang in our main exhibit hall
  • see an animal ambassador being fed
  • greet an owl up close and personal
  • find the perfect gift for your valentine in the Lindsay Wildlife  Museum store.
  • design a Valentine for $1 donation! Create a card for your favorite animal.  For $1 donation, you may purchase, create and display your uniquely designed valentine. (This is available during Feb 8-9 and Feb 15-16-17.)

Be My Valentine- Mini Monday

From 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, February 10, children from 2-5 years old become naturalists as they experience live animal encounters. The two-hour program allows little ones to explore different animal species through arts, crafts, activities and more—all with a Valentine’s Day theme. Nut-free refreshments are provided. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Registration is not required. Admission is $8 for members, $15 non-members, $5 each additional child age 2 and older.

Kiss and Tail- An Evening of Wild Romance

Join us at 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, February 12 in the exhibit hall with our animal ambassadors for a grown up event perfect for the Valentine’s Day holiday. Sip a glass of wine and nibble delicious sweets, and enjoy the “tails” of wild animal romances. Learn about the love stories from the animal kingdom. Find out who lures their mate with amazing courtship rituals, acrobatic aerial displays and alluring scents. Space is limited for this intimate 21 and older event. Admission is $25 non members ($20 members). Preregister by Tuesday, February 11. Visit www.wildlife-museum.org for more information.

Museum Hours & Admission
September 21–June 15: Wednesday–Friday 12 PM–5 PM, Saturday–Sunday 10 AM–5 PM
June 18, 2014–Labor Day: Wednesday–Sunday 10 AM–5 PM

Admission is free for members and children under 2 years old, $8.50 for adults, $7.50 for seniors 65+ and $6.50 for children 2 -17.
