All along the center of California we have a very special biome called chaparral. Chaparral is filled with special plants and unique animals unlike any other place in the world. Learn about the staple of the Chaparral: the mighty oak tree and the very special relationship it has with many animals like deer and ticks and squirrels.

  • Mountain
Come learn about life at high altitude. Animals and plants have adapted for low oxygen, high UV, high temperature variability to live on top of our local mountains. Learn about these harsh conditions and some of the amazing ways living creatures conquer the heights!

  • Wetlands
The wetlands are a very special and quickly disappearing habitat for some very unique plants and animals. We are lucky enough to live super close to some beautiful wetlands environments. We’ll explore the wildlife and the harsh conditions they must overcome. Come do a class experiment to explore the adaptations of the Tule Reeds.

The desert is a beautiful and arid place. We’ll meet some special desert animals and learn how they thrive in a world with very little water. We will explore how water drives everything in a place with very little and do a class activity on how a special reptile adaptation makes it so they never have to drink!
