What’s Next? Introducing Plans for Our New Nature Cove!

We are excited to announce our plans to create a new, outdoor exhibit area – The Nature Cove.

  • We are revitalizing an underused outdoor area at Lindsay and turning into an immersive experience with:
  • Outdoor animal enclosures
  • Hands-on activities
  • Interactive play space for children
  • Benches and resting areas
  • Accessibility for wheelchairs and strollers

Currently, the underutilized outdoor Nature Cove houses three small raptor enclosures and has a small presentation space that is only used for school field trips. It has undeveloped uneven terrain and lack of wheelchair-accessible doorways.

In the new Nature Cove, an ADA-accessible circular path lined with large aviaries will define the exhibit area. At the center, a discovery play space will be constructed consisting of an enlarged fallen log that children can crawl through, and other interactive decomposer elements for children to discover organisms. There will also be a large parallel play space for exploring animal homes such as a burrow, a hollow cavity in a tree, and a bird’s nest.

We need your help to make this long-term vision a reality! Our goal is to raise $1 million for this project.
