Neon Scorpion Hikes

Get ready for an exciting hike as you search the north face of Mount Diablo for local scorpions! Meet at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center and prepare to be amazed as you spot these glowing critters in the darkness, almost like green neon signs. While you’re at it, take in the amazing views and be on the lookout for other fascinating plants and animals that call Mount Diablo home. On this short 2-mile hike, there’s plenty to discover and observe on this fun-filled excursion.

  • Saturday, April 6, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 13, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 27, 7:15-9:15 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 28, 7:15-9:15 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 4, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 5, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 18, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 19, 7:30-9:30 p.m.

BRING hiking shoes, and water. An ultraviolet flashlight is optional.

Price per person: $20 for members/$25 for non-members

Additional cost: $6 parking at the Visitor’s Center

Details: Participants will meet at Mount Diablo State Park’s Mitchel Canyon Visitors Center

Please note: Pre-registration for this hike is required. Registration is cut off 3 days in advance. At this time, we do not offer day-of ticket sales.
